Sabbath 6th September

So, nothing really to report over the last few weeks. It has been a time of relative peace and inner joy. Last week I finally finished reading the Old Testament. About 5 and a half years after beginning. Such a long time, although for much of that time it lay neglected after Sarah left and I backslided so much during these years also. I am within a chapter of concluding my third reading of the New Testament also, and looking forward to starting again at Matthew as I have done with Genesis.
I have so many reasons to be thankful; my health, inner peace and joy, answered prayers, time with my children, my good job, a roof over my head, food, drink, and warmth, to have God’s word readily before me, and the works of His godly ministers down through the ages easily available through the internet. I am especially thankful for Matthew Henry’s commentary which has been invaluable to me as a daily use along with my readings.

Sabbath 2nd August

It has been a peaceful few weeks more or less. I put this down to spending more time at the word of God. I get up that extra bit early to read the OT along with Matthew Henry’s commentary. When I come home from work, I spend some more time working my way through the Psalms, and before bed a piece of the new testament, all followed by prayer. I believe two of the most important things I can do to keep my heart at peace is prayer and reading God’s word.
